Sanders sails gets bigger and better as renovations are almost complete to extend our premises in Lymington.
It is hoped the 1600 sq ft extension will be completed by February 2010 enabling us to make even larger sails.
One of our first such orders is already in the bag in fact with a request for sails to suit an 82 Maxi, currently being built in America.

Congratulations to Keith Willis who finished an impressive 16th in the final leg of the Transat 650 a gruelling single handed race from La Rochelle to Salvador Brazil.
This was a huge achievement for Keith who was only told that he had only gained a place on the official start list at the beginning of June.
To qualify Keith has spent the last three years clocking up 3,000 official mini miles. Sanders delivered a new genoa and mainsail, in time for the race.

Keith praised the new sails: It is worthy of note that all three of the new sails are still in great condition and ready to race despite seeing some pretty atrocious conditions!

He explained: Due to lack of time on the water and budget for both legs of the Transat I started fairly low down the rankings but as the race progressed so I moved up.
Leg 1 was a huge learning curve for me, with the 1st couple of days bringing survival conditions and being badly sick (from bad water as were a number of others) on the 3rd day, from then on I managed to catch quite a few boats and eventually got to Madeira in 20th.
He added: Leg 2 again had a slow start but from the canaries down to the doldrums I went from a position in the high 30s to 7th and at one stage in the doldrums I managed to get within 30 miles of first.
Keith was delighted to eventually finish 16th. The important thing to realize is that most of the boats at this end of the fleet are big budget full time campaigns spending large amounts of time on the water training and tuning. I had no time at all training this year and only actually sailed the boat in the 2 races and my qualifier.

Jeremy Rogers wins Contessa 32 National Championship
with Sanders Sails.

For the second year running Jeremy Rogers in Gigi has won the Contessa 32 National Championships Sanders Sails have always had a very special relationship with Jeremy Rogers as Contessa Yachts was one of their first customers when Peter Sanders started the company in 1974.  35 years later Sanders are still Jeremys preferred supplier and we are proud to have not only made the sails for Gigi, but also all the covers and the upholstery. Incidently we did the same for Jeremys last boat - the Contessa 26 Rosina.

SANDERS SAILS 1ST IN SEABIRD HALF RATERS
Seamew was this years top boat in the hotly contested race series for the Trearddur Bay Fleet of the Seabird Half Raters.
Seamew used a complete set of Sanders Sails to achieve an astounding set of results six 1sts and a second! Well done!

1ST IN MYTHS
It was total dominance by Sanders Sails in the Trearddur Bay Myth Class.  The first 10 boats used our sails as did most of the rest!

Ray Oliver sailed back to Lymington using a full set of Sanders Sails after completing a two year cruise around the UK raising money for charity.
On his beloved yacht Christine-Marie, he sailed over 3000 miles, visited over 100 ports and harbours around the UK and Ireland and raised more than £3000 for the charities Rethink, Marie Curie and the RNLI.
The sails performed brilliantly. I am very very pleased with them and everything Sanders Sails did including a new snuffer that was fitted.
Ray arrived home to a heroes welcome at his sailing club (Lymington Town) in September 2009. He added: It has not all been plain sailing thoughI experienced some very strong winds rough seas, including my first aborted attempt to cross the Pentland Firth.
I do not mind admitting that at times the challenges ahead seemed daunting and there were moments of self-doubting that I had to put aside.
There is no doubt that Sanders Sails helped me to achieve this.

Rolex Fastnet 2009
Congratulations to David Lees in Hephzibah (and with Sanders Sails of course!) who won Class 3 IRC and the Iolaire Cup this year.
He said: From the first race of the season we knew we had a battle on our hands. Most opinion seems to be that it was not a vintage Fastnet rather grey and damp but for us it was just about as good as it gets.
